How much does a corporate video cost?

The price ranges seen in France for a company video, item by item and type by type, and the questions to ask before you order.

In France, a company video usually costs from €800 excluding VAT for a simple interview to €15,000 excluding VAT for a film shot in several locations with strong art direction. A standard corporate video generally sits between €1,200 and €5,000 excluding VAT, depending on preparation, shooting days, crew, editing and music.

In short

  • Interview or testimonial: roughly €800 to €2,500 excluding VAT.
  • Standard corporate video: roughly €1,200 to €5,000 excluding VAT.
  • More elaborate corporate film: €2,500 to €8,000 excluding VAT, sometimes up to €15,000.
  • Event aftermovie: roughly €900 to €3,500 excluding VAT depending on the source.
  • Motion design: €1,500 to €6,000 excluding VAT for a 60 second animation.
  • Key point: post production often accounts for 30 to 50% of the budget.

What drives the price of a corporate video?

A video is built in three stages: preparation, shooting and post production. Each one has a cost, and every creative choice adds to it.

Preparation

Before shooting, you need to define the message, write a script and plan locations and speakers. According to WePlus, preproduction accounts for 10 to 20% of the overall budget. TopoVideo prices script writing at €300 to €800 and a storyboard or shot list at €400 to €1,000.

Shooting days and crew

Shooting is billed by the day or half day, and per person on set. TopoVideo quotes €640 to €1,000 excluding VAT for a day in Paris with a camera operator and a director, about €350 for a half day, and €400 to €800 excluding VAT per day for each crew member. Several locations, a drone or a larger crew push the quote up.

Interviews

Filming someone speaking requires lighting, clean sound and often two camera angles. The more speakers, the longer the shoot and the edit. Krang Films puts a client testimonial video at €1,500 to €2,500 excluding VAT.

Editing

Editing turns hours of footage into a few useful minutes. TopoVideo estimates it at €500 to €1,200 per day and puts post production at 30 to 50% of the total budget, while WePlus says 30 to 40%. Krang Films counts one to two days of post production per shooting day.

Motion design and voiceover

Animations, animated text and infographics add creative time. TopoVideo prices effects and motion design added to a video at €300 to €800, and a voiceover at €200 to €600.

Music rights

Music cannot be used freely in a video published online. According to TEMPO, there is no official price scale: a licence for a corporate film usually costs €300 to €1,500, while music libraries offer licences from €49 to €299 per track or subscriptions from €10 to €50 per month. The price depends on the distribution channel, the territory, the duration of use and how well known the track is.

What are the typical prices in France by type of video?

The following ranges come from pricing guides published by production companies. They vary from one provider to another and from one region to another.

TopoVideo and WePlus give €800 to €2,500 excluding VAT for an interview filmed in a studio or in a single location.

Corporate video and institutional film

WePlus puts a standard corporate video at €1,200 to €5,000 excluding VAT and a more elaborate institutional film at €2,500 to €8,000 excluding VAT. For a version with several shooting locations, TopoVideo quotes €3,000 to €15,000 excluding VAT. Storystellar gives €4,000 to €15,000 for half a day to a full day of shooting in a single location with testimonials and illustration shots. Krang Films puts an employer brand film at €4,000 to €8,000 excluding VAT, sometimes more.

Event aftermovie

WePlus gives €900 to €2,700 excluding VAT for an aftermovie, Krang Films €1,800 to €3,500 excluding VAT.

How do you choose a corporate video and a provider?

The right budget depends less on the provider than on what the video has to achieve. Before asking for quotes, clarify these points.

  • Which goal? Recruiting, presenting the company, reassuring clients or extending an event do not call for the same format.
  • Which channel? A video for a website or YouTube is designed in 16:9, a reel for Instagram or TikTok in 9:16.
  • How long? A short, well edited video often works better than a long film.
  • How many speakers and locations? Each interview and each location adds shooting and editing time.
  • What does the quote include? Preparation, shooting, editing, music, subtitles, number of editing rounds: compare on the same basis.
  • What rights to the music and footage? Check the planned channels and duration of use.
