Reel, interview, aftermovie: which video format to choose?
Five video formats, five different uses. Here is how to pick the right one for your goal, and how Layve makes that choice with you.
A useful video starts with a clear goal: bringing people in, hiring, reassuring customers, extending the life of an event. The format follows the goal, never the other way round. Here are the five video formats Layve offers, what each one is for, where to publish it and what it costs.

Vertical or horizontal: what the ratio changes
The ratio describes the shape of the image. The 9:16 format is vertical: it fills the whole screen of a phone held normally. It is the format of Instagram Reels, TikTok, Stories and YouTube Shorts.
The 16:9 format is horizontal: the shape of a computer or television screen. It suits a website, YouTube, LinkedIn, presentations and screens in a reception area.
Choosing the ratio therefore means choosing where the video will be watched. A video shot for one format does not always translate well into the other, which is why it is better to decide before the shoot.
The social media reel
A reel is a short, fast paced video designed to be watched on a phone. It has to catch attention in the first seconds and stay clear without sound, thanks to text on screen.
- Length and ratio: about 1 minute, vertical 9:16.
- Goal: getting known, showing an atmosphere, making people want to come, announcing something new.
- Where to publish it: Instagram, TikTok, Stories, YouTube Shorts, Facebook.
- Layve price: €400 excl. VAT, editing included.
It is the natural format for a restaurant, a shop or any venue that wants to draw people in over a specific period.
The interview
An interview gives the floor to one person facing the camera: a founder, a team member, an expert from the company. It takes the time to explain, with cutaway shots to illustrate what is said.
- Length and ratio: about 5 minutes, horizontal 16:9.
- Goal: explaining your trade, giving the company a face, establishing your expertise, attracting candidates.
- Where to publish it: website, LinkedIn, YouTube, newsletter.
- Layve price: €350 excl. VAT, editing included.
It is often the most direct way to show who is behind a company.
The corporate video
A corporate video presents the company clearly and completely: what it does, its places, its teams, its way of working. In two minutes, it tells people who you are and what you do.
- Length and ratio: about 2 minutes, horizontal 16:9.
- Goal: reassuring prospects, partners or candidates who are discovering the company.
- Where to publish it: home page or about page of your website, LinkedIn, trade fairs, sales presentations.
- Layve price: €600 excl. VAT, editing included.
The event aftermovie
An aftermovie sums up an event in a few minutes: an opening, an evening, a trade fair, a company seminar. It is shot on site during the event, then edited to bring its energy back to life.
- Length and ratio: about 2 minutes 30, horizontal 16:9.
- Goal: extending the event, thanking participants, showing it to those who could not come, making people want to attend the next edition.
- Where to publish it: LinkedIn, YouTube, website, email to participants.
- Layve price: €1,000 excl. VAT, editing included.
The brand film
A brand film tells a story rather than presenting an offer: where the company comes from, what guides it, what it stands for. It is the most narrative and the most crafted of the five formats.
- Length and ratio: about 3 minutes, horizontal 16:9.
- Goal: building a lasting brand image, supporting a launch or a new identity.
- Where to publish it: website home page, YouTube, LinkedIn, events and presentations.
- Layve price: €1,200 excl. VAT, editing included.
How to choose?
Start from what you want to achieve, then from where the video will be seen.
- You want visibility on social media over a specific period: the reel.
- You want to explain, to let a voice be heard or to hire: the interview.
- You want to present the company clearly to people who are discovering it: the corporate video.
- You are organising an event: the aftermovie.
- You want to tell your story for the long term: the brand film.
One goal can also call for several pieces. A horizontal video for your website can, for example, come with a reel for social media, or with a set of photos.
How does Layve pick the format from your goal?
You describe your goal in three lines, for example "we want more people in our restaurant in October". Layve reads public information about your company, such as your website, your public accounts and recent news, to understand your visual and editorial identity. It also looks at how similar companies publish, in your country and abroad.
Layve then sends you back a plan: the video formats, any photos, a fixed price taken from the price grid and a delivery window, which narrows as soon as the professional confirms the shoot date. You change whatever you want, one format for another, more or fewer photos. Nothing is ordered before your approval.
Once the plan is approved, a videographer from the Layve network receives a complete brief: the place, the date, the time and the shots expected. They shoot on site, the video is edited, delivered in your company space, then published on your channels on the planned dates if you approve it.
